Hello Vince and all,

Today was another typical day in Indonesia. We were all up at 5 AM. Then off to dispatch several flights to Meulaboh and Simuelue. Then in the afternoon, several of the crew went to Meulaboh as a kind of company tour. We were also delivering several hundred pounds of medical supplies donated by Cessna company and employees. When we arrived at Meulaboh hospital,, I met Dr. Del Rosario from the Phillipines. He flies almost daily to the coast north of Meulaboh. He said he saw children asked to draw the best and worst things in their lives. Almost unanimously the worst was a wave and the best was a helicopter. Where is the money to get Vic flying?? Then while Susi visited patients handing out $10 or $20 to help people get back on their feet, we saw two twins born 5 days after the tsunami, names Tsunami and Tsunama. Then we saw a lady with a big smile on her face. She had had a badly infected fracture which was healing nicely, thanks to antibiotics and tetanus vaccine we had delivered a week earlier. Mike and I, both amateur radio operators, went to the communication facility at the hospital. They have 200 workers in the field but today lost a child in the river due to lack of communications. They need 200 radios, even simple walkie talkies, but preferably two meter rigs. Anyone who has access to people who could donate 200 radios and get them here, please pull all strings to make it happen. That is the key – MAKE IT HAPPEN! Then when Mike and I went to leave, the rest of our crew was gone. We saw an ambulance being loaded with a 13 year old girl who had severe head injuries. She was headed to the airport to catch a plane they heard was there. Our plane. We jumped on board and I became Dr. I asked the paramedic who came with us if he was a paramedic. No. A nurse? No. A volunteer. We actually passed the rest of our crew on the way to the airport. Then we loaded Chin Chin in the plane, along with her father (her mother had died in the Tsunami) and brought her to Medan where she has a chance of living. Will keep you posted on the outcome. Now at 10PM we will grab a bite to eat, get some sleep and be back at it in the morning. Just another day in Aceh.
